DD Sports to air archival footage and highlights of select late 1990s and early 2000s matches
DD Sports will broadcast the 2000s cricket rewind tomorrow onwards. Doordarshan has planned to broadcast matches on DD Sports every day till April 14.
Public broadcaster Prasar Bharati and the country’s governing body for cricket Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have tied up to bring the viewer’s cricket highlights from the past.
BCCI on Monday announced the move on Twitter. DD Sports will broadcast the 2000s cricket rewind tomorrow onwards. Doordarshan has planned to broadcast matches on DD Sports every day till April 14.
Prasar Bharati CEO thanked the BCCI for sharing the archival footage and highlights of select matches produced by DD during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The chance to relieve some of the classics from the game of cricket will help entertain the people of India who are homebound due to restrictions around the country to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Tri-Series India, Australia, New Zealand 2003, South Africa Tour of India 2000, Australia Tour of India 2001, West Indies Tour of India 2002, Australia Tour of India 2001, and Sri Lanka Tour of India 2005 will aired on DD Sports over the next 7 days. 20 matches from the above series will be aired.

DD Sports ratings are likely to touch new heights with this move. Doordarshan last week broke new records with the re-airing of Ramayana. Ramayana with DD National was the highest-rated show in urban and megacities. The show was the all-time high among serials in Hindi GEC since 2015.
