The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has released the quarterly report of subscriber figures for the DTH sector for the quarter ended on 31st June 2021. As per the report, the total subscriber base of pay DTH operators saw growth after shrinking in the last quarter and all pay DTH operators except Dish d2h reported an increase in their subscriber base.
The overall active subscribers across all DTH service providers increased marginally by 0.29 million quarter on quarter, to reach 69.86 million in the June quarter. In the previous quarter ended 31st March 2021, it was 69.57 million.
Tata Sky remained the largest operator with 33.37% market share (23.3 million), followed by Bharti Telemedia’s Airtel Digital TV that has a market share of 25.76% (18 million). Dish d2h is third having 23.45% share (16.4 million) and Sun Direct commands 17.41% market share (12.2 million).
According to the report, Dish TV is in a tough spot losing 0.64% subscribers in a span of three months. Sun Direct is expanding with a decent rate showing 0.34% growth in active users, followed by Airtel Digital TV that reported 0.22% increase in subscribers and Tata Sky’s user base also increased marginally by 0.07%.
