DTH Performance Report for January 2024

Let’s analyze the performance of Direct-to-home (DTH) operators for the month of January 2024. Starting with Tata Play which came up with the addition of 4 channels, followed by Airtel Digital TV with 4 new channels. Dish TV only added 2 new channels. On the other hand, Sun Direct added 5 new channels while DD Free Dish added only 1 channel on their platform.

Tata Play

Tata Play has added 4 channels to its platform. The additions made by Tata Play include 1 HD and 3 SD channels namely Sony Sports Ten 4 HD, Studio One+, Tata Play Classic Cinema 2, and Tata Play Tamil Classics. Tata Play Cinema Cinema 2 and Tata Play Tamil Classics are service channels offered by Tata Play to engage viewers with ad-free entertainment.

In January, Tata Play has removed Naaptol, Mantavya News, Ezmall, and Prime News from its platform. Tata Play now doesn’t carry any Hindi shopping channel on the platform. Besides their regular Jingalala Offers, Tata Play has started an offer under which subscribers recharging for 6 or 12 months will get a special 40% off. Tata Play has also started offering their HD set-top-box for free under “Non-ODU” condition.

Airtel Digital TV

Airtel Digital TV has made 4 new channels available on their platform. The list contains Zee Picchar HD, Public First, Mahaa News, and Shekinah. Initially, Zee Picchar HD was exclusively available on Tata Play. Now, Airtel Digital TV also carries this channel on Channel No. 971.

During January month, Airtel Digital TV did not remove any single channel from its platform but increased the prices of its channel packs.

Dish TV and D2H

Dish TV added 2 most popular and demanded sports channels named Sports18-2 and Sports18-3 but removed Cinema TV India and Naaptol from its platform. Dish TV offered service channels for Re. 1 for the first 7 days. D2H, on the other hand, was inactive in the January month but continued to provide regular offers on service channels for Re. 1 for the first 7 days.

Sun Direct

Sun Direct added 5 new channels – Zee Kannada News, Zee Telugu News, Vendhar TV, TV9 Bangla, and Sports18-3. On the great side, Sun Direct removed no SD or HD channels from its platform. Additionally, Sun Direct has also made Colors TV free for certain DPO packs and some new channels got added in Bengali DPO packs.

DD Free Dish

The state-owned, Free-to-air satellite television provider DD Free Dish added Akashwani Aaradhana in January month. DD Free Dish removed no SD or HD channels from their platform in January.
