DTH Performance Report for March 2024

Tata Play added 5 channels, followed by Airtel Digital TV with 2 channels in March 2024.

Let’s analyze the performance of Direct-to-home (DTH) operators for the month of March 2024. Starting with Tata Play which came up with the addition of 5 channels, followed by Airtel Digital TV with 2 new channels but also removed 4 channels. D2H added 2 channels and removed 1 channel from its platform. While Sun Direct added 4 channels and removed none.

Tata Play

Tata Play has added 5 channels to its platform. The additions made by Tata Play include 1 4K and 4 SD channels channels namely Tata Play 4K (Star Sports 4K), News Capital
Zee Telugu News, Zee Kannada News, and Shekinah. Tata Play 4K has been made available for subscribers who have 4K or Binge+ Android set-top-box for the ongoing Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 edition.

Tata Play has removed Dhamaka Movies B4U from its platform. Besides Jingalala Offers, Tata Play has increased the price of its 6-month activation plan by Rs. 100.

Airtel Digital TV

Airtel Digital TV has made 2 new channels available on their platform, Star Kiran HD and Star Sports 4K (Service Channel). Star Sports 4K and Tata Play 4K are the same channels with the same content and Star Kiran HD has been added after 2 years of its launch.

Airtel Digital TV removed 4 channels, double the addition of channels. The removed channels are namely Prime 9 News, Kasthuri TV, R Plus News, and TV100. There were no Airtel Super Sunday Sale offers available during the March month.

Dish TV and D2H

Dish TV India has launched the Tata IPL 2024 Predict & Win Contest in which lucky winners will get up to 1-month worth of recharge as cashback in their Dish TV user account. D2H has made Zee Classic and Malai Murasu Seithikal available for its subscribers. Zee Classic was launched in 2019 and D2H has welcomed this channel after 5 years. But on the other side, D2H removed News State UP/UK.

Sun Direct

Sun Direct has added J Movies, TV9 Bharatvarsh, Star Sports 1 Tamil HD, and Tehzeeb on their platform. During March month, Sun Direct did not remove any single channel from its platform. Star Sports 1 Tamil HD was added by a majority of DTH operators especially on Tata Play and Airtel Digital TV having a huge subscriber base leaving Sun Direct behind but now Sun Direct also carries this Regional sports channel on LCN 995.
