The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on Friday issued an advisory to TV channels to refrain themselves from broadcasting such content which may not be in the spirit of the Programme Codes.

The Ministry noting that some TV channels were telecasting content which doesn’t appear to be in the spirit of the programme codes reiterated that all the TV channels may abstain from showing any content which could instigate violence, affect law and order, promotes anti-national attitudes, criticizes and maligns any individual and certain groups and also affects the integrity of the nation.

The notice issued to all Private Satellite TV channels, DTH, Cable and MSO operators referred to the advisory dated 11.12.2019 by the Ministry for ensuring compliance of the Programme Codes.

Yesterday’s advisory was the second such communication on the matter in the last 10 days. The Ministry has called for strict compliance of the programme codes.
