Shopping Bazaar run Bhojpuri Movie channel Manoranjan Grand has once again been granted relief by the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) which has allowed it to pay the 5th instalment latest by 14th August. The benefit of extended time has been granted once again by the tribunal.
Although the broadcaster didn’t make any formal application for extending the time of the 5th instalment, Manoranjan Grand submitted that it needed time for the 5th instalment to be paid with at least one more accommodation. It promised to make best efforts to pay further instalments within time.
Prasar Bharati on its part stated that the extension of time without imposing condition as to rate of interest which could be charged for the extended time will inspire others to follow suit and thereafter if extension is to be granted then the same should be done on interest of 14.5% p.a as indicated in the original scheme otherwise Prasar Bharati would suffer loss.
The tribunal has allowed Manoranjan Grand to pay up the 5th instalment which is falling due on 27th July by upto 14th August.
Taking note of Prasar Bharati’s plea, the tribunal posting the matter in August noted, “The benefit of extended time has definitely gone to the petitioner and therefore respondent’s demand for interest for the period of delay requires consideration. The same shall be considered before final disposal of this petition.”
