The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has cancelled the license of Sony Pictures Network India’s MIX, Sony ESPN, and Sony ESPN HD after the channels shutdown on 31st March, 2020. The Ministry has today updated its database with the cancellations.
The database reflects that the licenses have been cancelled today. MIX, Sony ESPN and Sony ESPN HD license stand cancelled with the reason for cancellation highlighted as ‘Not Required’.
The number of cancelled Television channels now stands at 300 as on 3rd July, 2020 as per the database of the Ministry and Information Broadcasting. Sony MIX, Sony ESPN, and Sony ESPN HD had shut down on 31st March, 2020 as part of SPNI’s realignment of portfolio.
SPNI had also just few days back shutdown AXN and AXN HD as part of its realignment of portfolio further reducing its portfolio to 24 channels from the 29 channels it had at the start of this year.
