Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has extended its collaboration with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) with renewal of exclusive broadcast and digital rights, ensuring Indian audiences continue to enjoy premier European club football leagues.

The renewed agreement is effective from the 2024/2025 season through the 2026-2027 season. Over the course of three seasons, football enthusiasts will have access to over 1600 matches across various channels. From the iconic UEFA Champions League to the exhilarating UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League, UEFA Super Cup, and UEFA Youth League, the partnership promises a diverse array of footballing action.

Fans can anticipate witnessing the prowess of legendary clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool, featuring star players such as Kylian Mbappe, Mo Salah, Erling Haaland, and Bruno Fernandes.

UEFA tournaments will be available live both through Sony Pictures Network linear television channels as well as the SonyLIV OTT platform, ensuring wide accessibility to viewers across the Indian subcontinent.

The UEFA Champions League is set to adopt a revamped format starting from the 2024/25 season. The inclusion of four additional clubs in a new league phase adds a fresh dimension to the tournament, providing more opportunities for teams to compete at the highest level. With 36 clubs participating in a single league format, fans can anticipate a heightened level of competition and intensity. In addition to that, UEFA’s premier club competitions will no longer observe a break in January, offering fans uninterrupted European club football action from August to May.

Sony Sports Network will continue to cater to regional audiences by telecasting select UEFA Champions League matches in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The growing popularity of regional language coverage is evident, with a significant increase in incremental reach observed over the past three seasons.

In addition to its UEFA partnership, Sony Sports Network is also the official broadcaster for prestigious events such as UEFA EURO 2024, Bundesliga, Emirates FA Cup, and Roshn Saudi Pro League.

Good competition against Viacom18. Sony was losing a number of sports properties to Sports18, especially FIFA, and this will help it come back strongly. Hope Sony gets the rights of properties in other sports as well because Star and Reliance will be too strong otherwise. Zee should try to get something as well if possible.
