New Delhi Television Limited (NDTV) has submitted a comprehensive payment plan for the admitted dues of Hathway in accordance with the Telecom Disputes and Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) order passed earlier.
NDTV has agreed to clear Rs 2.10 crores by March 2020 as per the installments indicated. The remaining amount payable by cash amounting to Rs 2.33 crores, NDTV has proposed the dues to be paid by various installments payable till December 2020.
Hathway’s counsel submitted that the admitted dues should be cleared by July 2020 by enhancing the amount of each installment. The tribunal noted that since the installments upto March 2020 had been accepted by NDTV, as prayed by NDTV the tribunal gave further time till February 2020 to reassess their financial position and suggest better payment plan for the balance outstanding which have remained due. The tribunal clarified that the dues are for the period till March 2019.
Posting the matter under the Head “For Directions” in December, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Shiva Kirti Singh noted
“Learned counsel for the respondent prays for, and is granted, four weeks’ time for filing reply in respect of claim of the petitioner which has not been admitted by the respondent. Rejoinder, if any, may be filed within three weeks’ thereafter.”
Hathway had in July moved TDSAT against NDTV for recovery of its outstanding dues. NDTV had back then told the tribunal that it wished to settle the matter and offered to come forward with a schedule of payment at the earliest.
