New TV License applications hit a 21 month-low in Q3 FY 21

Ministry at the end of Q3 FY 21 had 14 TV license applications pending with it, down from 25 TV license applications at the end of Q2 FY 21.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) is currently sitting on 14 new applications for a satellite TV license for more than a month at the end of 2020. The Ministry recently revealed the latest round of figures for the pending TV license applications as routine habit of publishing performance statistics.

As things stand, the Ministry at the end of Q3 FY 21 had 14 TV license applications pending with it, down from 25 TV license applications at the end of Q2 FY 21.

The Ministry in Q3 FY 21 only received 2 new applications for a TV license hitting 21 month low. The Ministry in Q2 FY 21 had received 4 new applications for a TV license which was an 18 month low. The recently concluded quarter has however seen another slide as the number of TV license applications continues to decline.

Separately, the number of TV license applications pending with other Ministry has touched 29, down from 36 at the end of Q2 FY 21. The Ministry has in the recent past cancelled many TV licenses apart from routine new TV licenses and renaming.
