Star India has extended the existing subscription license agreement executed by distribution platform operators with Disney or Star up to April 30, 2020, as an interim measure. The broadcaster had earlier as well extended the agreements.
The broadcaster in its letter dated April 6 informed the distribution platform operators in India about the extension. Star noted that DPOs whose subscription license agreement expired on March 31, 2020 or is expiring by efflux of time on April 29, 2020 is being extended.
Star India in its letter stated, “This is to inform all distributor of television channels (“DPOs), whose subscription license agreement executed with Star India Private Limited and/or Disney Broadcasting India Limited has expired on March 31, 2020, or is expiring by efflux of time on April 29, 2020 (and have not signed the subscription license agreement version 3 dated 01.01.2020), is further extended for a period ending on April 30, 2020, as an interim measure by way of extension letters, on terms and condition detailed therein. Copies of the said letters have been sent through email.”
Star had earlier on 20 March, informed the distribution platform operators about the extension of existing subscription license agreements upto March 31, 2020, as an interim measure by way of extension letters, on terms and conditions detailed therein.
In other news, Star India recently deferred the launch of its 5 new channels until further intimidation. Star Gold 2 HD, Vijay Music, Star Movies Select, and Star Sports 3 HD were supposed to be launched on 1 February. Disney HD channel was scheduled to launch on 1 March. All of these are now on hold.
