Direct to Home (DTH) operators Sun Direct, Tata Sky and Airtel Digital TV have made Star Utsav, Colors Rishtey, Zee Anmol and Sony Pal Free to Air (FTA) in line with the change in the price of these channels from April 1 to May 31.
Sun Direct, became the first DTH operator to comply with the MIB circular which told the DPOs that the regulations had been relaxed in larger public interest. Sun Direct on Wednesday, made the 4 channels FTA and added them to all the DPO packs.
Airtel Digital TV and Tata Sky followed suit on Thursday making the channels FTA. Both made the channels free to air early morning yesterday. Customers can subscribe to the channel for free. Both DTH operators have chosen not to add the channels to their free bundles.
Dish TV and Dish TV owned d2h remain the only two DTH operators who are yet to comply with the change in the price of these 4 channels. d2h had earlier yesterday updated the EPG of these channels, however, it was yet to make it FTA for its subscribers.
The Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) had on 28th March announced that it will provide 4 of its pay channels for free to all viewers for the next 2 months. The move is aimed at helping people stay at home by keeping them entertained.
