The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Tuesday extended the last date to receive comments and counter comments on the consultation paper on the framework for technical compliance of the Conditional Access System (CAS) and the Subscriber Management System (SMS) for broadcasting and cable services.
The regulator noted that the last date for receiving comments and counter comments was fixed as 20th May and 03rd June respectively, but the same has been extended keeping view the request of the stakeholders/Industry association for extension of time for submission of comments.
The last date for submission of written comments and counter comments has been extended up to 3rd June 2020 and 17th June 2020. TRAI stated that it would not entertain any further requests.
The consultation paper mainly revolves around how the CAS and SMS systems along with the audit procedure can be made better. TRAI had earlier noted that broadcasters had complained on a regular basis regarding piracy and the distribution of pirated signals.
