The DTH operator, a few hours back has notified its customers about the change with messages sent to their Registered Mobile Number (RMN). Airtel Digital TV in its message mentioned, ” Hi, festive discount offered by broadcasters on your Airtel DigitalTV a-la-carte channel/s will be withdrawn from 9-Jan-20. Know new prices at https://bit.ly/39Q5wyo.”

Airtel has uploaded the list of a-la-carte channels which will be available at a revised rate from tomorrow on its website. Hungama, Star Plus, NGC, Nat Geo Wild, Star Sports 2, Star Jalsha, Star Sports First, Vijay Super, Star Vijay, Star Maa TV, Asianet Movies, Star Sports 3, Asianet, Colors, Colors Kannada, Sony, Set Max, SAB TV, Zee TV, Zee Bangla, Zee Marathi, Zee Kannada, Zee Tamil, Zee Telugu and Zee Sarthak which were available at a reduced MRP as part of the festive discount will be available at revised prices from 9 January 2020.

The withdrawal comes with the end of promotional offers which were offered by Sony Pictures Network India, Viacom18, Zee Entertainment, and Star India. Star India had earlier this week notified the withdrawal of its offer from January 9, 2020. All four broadcasters had launched the festive offer in October 2019 and the 90 days period of the promotional offer has come to an end.

While the ala-carte rates will be revised back to the original price with many of the channels having Rs 19 price, it would be interesting to see if the broadcasters bring it down back to Rs 12 to include it in bouquets as per the rules of the amended Tariff Order. All eyes are now on the revised pricing from broadcasters which as per the amended Tariff Order has to be declared by January 15.
