Many of the niche channels were loved by urban audiences, like Vh1 and Comedy Central, and were on air for a decade or two. Meanwhile JioStar’s struggles in Odisha have made it shrink to only one Odia channel.

But, it'll make more sense to turn these* channels into HD to Romance and Thrill. And, Gold 2 into comedy. So, the list would look like,

Star Gold Cineplex HD
Star Gold Romance HD
Star Gold Thrill HD

Don't need so much movie channels from same brand.

Sorry, but Odisha is not a rich/well to do state.
Also, Aasam and other North Eastern states will have less TV channels too like Odisha.

It shouldn't be too late as television is already boring these days. Star India should take initiative to reduce advt timing atleast in movie Channel.

All other versions of VH1 already shut down in different countries, Outside US this is the only version which is still on air that itself is a very big thing and it means channel generated good enough ratings to survive for so long, in many areas of Mumbai, VH1 is very famous, almost like a religion, I am sure it would not have been shutdown if this merger had not happen, this merger was not that good for viewers even after all the hype

Don't know about Hindi, but English movie channels have around Zero advertisements in the night, and it is an old practice.
If they go like this, it will happen with Hindi too.

Then, I just wish SonyLIV buy the rights, they must atleast invest in this direction. Whereas, more chances for them are to go with Netflix as well.
