In my point of view this device is nothing but a wifi enabled usb adapter. I have a similar device from Huawei with which I can use any SIM card. But with airtel device I can only use with an airtel SIM and not with others. And we can connect this type of devices to any USB port to enable power. But it is mentioned here that it should be connected to the STB. Not sure why.

as they can get access to airtel videos etc, so connecting it to STB is mandatory :u
