#Connectivity matters: Certain things
always set trends. And when stalwarts like
Amitabh Bachchan wooing online followers to
his upcoming TV fiction show, the game
seems to be getting interesting. According to
the telly think tank it's all about staying
connected and multiplying online fan base.
Says actress Poonam Dhillon, "In today's
time, sometimes we are overwhelmed by
connectivity as it takes away lot of time. By
and large, it is a boon because it's always
important to connect with people."
The power of an online buzz generated
around a show is said to have its own eyeball
factor. Plus, TV stars' enigmatic presence on
the social networking sites also adds to the
online factor. Gaurav Seth, Senior VP and
Head Marketing of a leading General
Entertainment Channel, says, "An online
identity is beneficial for TV shows as they can
tap conversations happening online around
their content and get instantaneous
feedback." The power of online buzz
generated around a show is said to have its
own eyeball factor. So, does digital presence
of actors as well TV shows replace stars's
promotional outings to different cities?
Industry experts say, not really. "Physically
visiting cities has its own charm, because the
impact and experience of meeting your
audience is real and lets an actor establish an
emotional connect with the audience. Social
networking has its own USP and one can't be
the substitute of the other," says Vivian
D'Sena. Vivek Srivastava, Head, Commercial
and Digital, of another leading GEC, says, "A
handle with its digital updates gives more
insights into the show. Individual digital
identity of each show is a must because
tonality of each show is different. "

#Instant feedback Staying connected,
according to TV's think tank, involves sharing
promotional info too and nuggets on star
visits which take the connect to another level.
Producer Rajan Shahi says, "Social networking
platforms give you instant feedback. The new
generation is hooked on to the internet. The
bigger advantage online is that there is no
space constraint and instant accessibility to
information as today almost everything is
connected to the Internet. Show updates to
loyal viewers on forthcoming tracks surely
helps a show in creating interest around the
characters."
#TV Fans maange more It's all about
getting maximum eyeballs. "The online
strategy for each show is different basis pre
launch or post launch. No doubt the online
target audience is younger, however feeding
info to the net savvy user about what's on air
adds on to to the personal experiences. The
NRI audience, which comprises a big chunk of
users, benefits a lot from this," says
Srivastava. "Most show pages offer exclusive
content where fans can read up on the latest
episodes, learn more about actors, get sneak
peeks about upcoming episodes or participate
in interesting contests to win prizes related to
the show. The online presence works as an
entire eco-system where fans benefit the
most," says Seth.
Vivian DSena Social networking helps a show
as audiences who follow a show like to get
updated about it. The awareness about what's
going to come next creates more curiosity.
Internet is a huge and interactive medium.
Roopal Tyagi The online world attracts new
set of audience and helps a show and its
actors get an honest feedback where it is a
two way process because the feedback is
instant.
