It looks like a marketing gimmik...d2h did the same when they said they are first to launch 3D Channel which was not a 3D but totally a crap channel and now UHD...just to come in lime light so they can advertise saying they are first to launch UHD and gain customers by fooling them as they did before at the time of 3D channel....very bad move...instead they should add the remaining HD channels which will help everyone.

Some facts about HEVC,High efficiency video coding:

HEVC is said to double the data compression ratio compared to H.264/MPEG-4 AVC at the same level of video quality. It can alternatively be used to provide substantially improved video quality at the same bit rate. It can support 8K UHD and resolutions up to 8192x4320.

BTW, When HD channels were introduced in India first, the same type of reaction was given... Now hasn't the scenario changed :lol Similarly Our SD chanels will be converted to HD channels and HD to UHD channels :sp Eagerly waiting for that moment :sp

@480p , 720p , 1080p & 4K UHD

@ 52% , 56% , 62% & 64% Respectively.

But in 2010 when HD channels where launched the price of cheapest LCD TV was even less than 30k rupess not 2 lakh rupees like s UHD tv :lol

In India both Tata nano and Mercedes Benz have good responses from customers. :lol

Now just think the price of a uhd settop box and the add on price of that uhd channel plus currently the are no uhd contents like in sports or movies that would keep you amazed for few days but just their are few serial's in USA and few wild life shows which are available in 4k and FIFA world cup final cup
