Videocon d2h to roll out 4K Ultra HD services soon

Direct-to-home (DTH) service provider Videocon d2h today announced it would soon launch 4K Ultra HD services in India.

The company held a preview of the new technology at a press event here.

4K Ultra HD resolution comprises 3840 x 2160 (at a 16:9, or 1.78:1 aspect ratio). This technology enables image clarity with fine detail, greater texture and almost photographic immulsion of smoothness.
Earlier, Tata Sky had entered into an agreement with Technicolor for volume supplies of 4K STBs to be delivered by early 2015.

Videocon d2h Director Saurabh Dhoot said, “Videocon d2h as a leading DTH service provider is committed to bring global technology into the Indian homes through our innovations. 4K Ultra HD is the latest innovation in viewing technology. We have successfully previewed the technology today and demonstrated our capabilities.”

Videocon d2h CEO Anil Khera said, “After many firsts in the DTH sector by Videocon d2h, once again we have taken the lead with 4k Ultra HD services. 4K services previewed today will revolutionise viewing in this country. It will provide images with so much clarity, finer detailing and nuances that the differences will be unbelievable.”

Videocon d2h offers 500 channels and services, 27 Asli HD channels and services, 239 regional channels and services, and 130 South Indian channels and services.

Even HD TV is not affordable by common people. Whoever want to have these features and can spend money to buy these TVs can buy and use. We should not forget that still SD channels are in service which can be viewed in CRT TV which a common man can easily buy. But this is not stopping and this should not stop the DTH provided to add high end technical channels...
