DD Direct+ is now ‘FREEDISH’

It is impossible for Prasar Bharati to increase channel count to 120 within 2 - 3 years without migrating to MPEG 4 as ISRO is not able to provide required Tp(because of delay in GSLV). And it is very difficult for a government organization to hire foreign satellite. :'(

now India is going to digitization, so DD Direct+ must take good role & also it must increase channel capacity. in cable we pay 100- 200 rs per month but now we will pay 120-500 for one tv.
So it have bright future.

If DDD+ relays 120 it is more benefit for dish TV.

Bcoz it is already running rs99 pack.

Customer will get their choice channel over 120 free channels by paying 20-50 rs more over rs100

It is to be noted that DD’s DTH platform that earlier had unencrypted signals, did not need the consumers to activate their set top boxes. As a result, DD did not have a conclusive data for its viewer’s base. However, in the expansion phase, the increased channels will be encrypted and will require consumers to activate their STBs. This activation will authoritatively confirm the subscription base, an essential requirement for marking.

they will encreypted the newly add channel , if this come to be true then dish subscribers will not be able those channel from dd direct + ("Freedish")

Good observation brother. :k
So that means DDD+ channels will not be available in DishTV as it will be encrypted.

but for dishtv this will not matter much as SES8 will be launched by nov 25 and be functional by dec end or jan , so they will have enough tp to add more channels

What about Transponder rent paid to SES for this new satellite. Right now they are getting all DDD+ channels absolutely free(without paying any Tp rent). But if encryption is implemented then Dish has to hire additional transponder to beam DDD+ channels. And as rupee value is declining against dollar so paying for additional transponders in dollar is going to be costly as monthly subscription they are collecting from subscribers are in rupee. Isn't it?:huh

Anyone knows how much a transponder rent(For DTH broadcasting) cost ? Is there any cost difference between foreign transponder(for example ST2 or SES7 paid by airtel in dollar) and Indian transponder(for example INSAT 4A paid by TS in rupee) ?

I think every DTH is paying in dollors (may be TS not), as ISRO is managing TPs for all DTH.
Any way Dishtv has to manage TPs for DD channels just like any other DTH if encryption is enabled on DD+...
