It is due to technology employed by TS. In fact TS HD PQ used to be much sharper when they first started beaming HD channels. The compression technology they have employed has enabled them to squeeze in more channels with only slightly compromising sharpness. However all TS HD channels are beamed in 5.1 dolby audio. In case of ADTV, some of the HD channels only have stereo audio.

Yes, but for example in MTunes HD, TS remixes and transmits the audio as 5.1 even if the channel doesn't provide 5.1 audio.
