Even if Disney buys star, fox and sky. All these brands will remain as they are. The brand value is more.

The world knows them by their brand name.

Even Sony has retained TEN brand.

Cant star keep a clause that names have to be changed?
So that star can have copyrights over the brands for any future purpose

Again, why are you guys so desperate to get the Star channels rebranded!? Disney won't do it. The brand is bigger than you think it is. Disney never messed with abc networks and changed it into Disney name; they never changed ESPN to Disney Sports.

Disney Media Network contains the following:
  • Disney–ABC Television Group
    • ABC Television Network
    • ABC Family Worldwide
      • Freeform
    • ABC Owned Television Stations Group
      • Live Well Network
    • A+E Networks
      • Vice Media
  • Disney Channels Worldwide
    • Radio Disney
    • Disney Television Animation
    • Hulu
  • ESPN Inc.
The new channels, post-acquisition will be added from Fox's businesses that will include
  • Fox Networks Group
  • Big Ten Network
  • FOX Business Network
  • FOX Deportes
  • FOX News Channel
  • FS1 & FS2
  • FOX Sports Regional Networks
  • National Geographic
  • FX Networks
  • Star India
  • YES Network
Also other FOX assets that will go to Disney include
  • Twentieth Century Fox Film
  • Twentieth Century Fox Television
  • Fox 2000
  • Fox 21 Television Studios
  • Fox Animation & Blue Sky Studios
  • Fox Home Entertainment
  • Fox International Productions
  • Fox Searchlight Pictures
  • Endemol Shine Group
  • FOX Broadcasting Company
  • FOX Sports
  • FOX Television Stations Group
  • MyNetworkTV
  • Sky plc

Few of these assets might include or rebranded to 'Disney' or merged into Disney's existing brands but not the channels. Channels are very important brands and being Disney-owned brands in the future, they will retain their existing names. Looking at some of you guys' enthusiasm and eagerness to get the star brand renames, I can sense that you guys might now even want TATA SKY to rebrand as TATA Disney as SKY would fall under Disney post-acquisition.

One thing for sure is that Fox international channels will be rebranded as Fox brand will remain in US at least for Fox stations which carries Lucifer,Gotham etc.Else they will have pay a brand license which they will probably don't want to.

Btw Disney previously bought two channels from Fox in USA -

1.Fox Family which was rebranded to ABC family and now to Freeform.
2.Fox kids which is now Disney XD.

Just FYI, these are Disney presence in India curretly
1.Disney (Disney,Disney XD,Hundama etc) and Disney UTV (Bindass,UTV movies etc)
2.Sony ESPN (ESPN is a jont venture with Hearst 80:20)
3 With TV18/Network 18 (Histoty,FYI)- These channels Disney have JV with Hearst(50:50)

Personally I like to have Star renamed- Star stands for Satelite Television for Asian region which is now strunk/Focused on India. So renaming will be good.

Cant star keep a clause that names have to be changed?

Here, star is not the one that's being sold. Star is already a part of FOX that will be sold. Star's management is not coming out of the ecosystem to reserve their rights over the name to use in the future.

I don't think they would even want to come out if there is any rebranding and start their own and 'different' channels and name it as Star.

Also, once the trademark is registered and gets rebranded later, the previous trademark does not get expired and can't be awarded to anybody seeking the same name.

They have changed all the STAR names in Southeast Asia to Fox, in Southeast Asia Star World is Fox Life, Star Movies is Fox Movies, FX, Fox Sports.

u r wrong star movie and fox movies r 2 different channels same for star world and fox life...in middle east we have both channels ie fox movies and star movies

Star Movies rebranded in Southeast Asia to Fox Movies Premium in 2012, and to Fox Movies in 2017. Star World Asia rebranded to Fox Life few months ago.

Also Disney bought hungama in 2006 but they didn’t change the name. Even though lot of their programming is shifted between Hungama and Disney channels.

Fox will concentrate on us only with Fox Sports and local fox channels.

The Star brand will be retained only in India, and for the international feed of Indian Star channels, as well as China (Star Chinese Channel and others are there). In Asia* the Star brand has been completely retired as @druser0817 has pointed out. Star World has been rebranded to Fox Life. Star Movies has become Fox Movies (in some countries it was Fox Movies Premium earlier). Star Sports became Fox Sports a long time ago.

In India, other than Fox Life (SD/HD), there are no Fox channels. Fox Action Movies became Star Movies Action (shut down). Fox Crime shut down. FX also shut down this year. Maybe Fox Life will also change its name, but it has changed its name 4 times already. :skd: :skd:

*Asia always refers to only Southeast Asia (includes Taiwan and sometimes Japan and South Korea) in TV terminology, and NOT to India, China, the Middle East, etc.
