Disney says their approach in India is different.
India will stay as a separate island in Asia. Also note that, Star Network became more aggressive in acquiring movies for their TV channels than it's Ott platform. Disney+Hotstar is currently buying a few movies (only for their Direct Ott release- Multiplex). They are no where near Amazon, Netflix or even Zee5. On the other hand the TV channels are stocking most movies (including big budgets). Recently RRR. Star's south channels are on full swing in purchasing new movies, very mostly Asianet - I think in the last 6 months, if 20 movies sold, 15 are bought by Asianet. We doubted about the future of Star(TV channels), when Disney replaced Fox as Star's parent. But things are going well. Current indications says there is no mass shut down for Star channels in India.

There was a time when ESPN-Star and Star Cricket later, alone, were sufficient for all the rights. Now they have half the rights and 3 times the number of channels.
I remember they were showing formula E on Hotstar VIP even they have TV rights just because to show IPL highlights on multiple channels. I know motor racing is not that popular in india but unless you promote sports, how people gonna get interested in it??

Mods please create a thread for discussions on International channels. I don't think seperate threads are required for these discussions.
