No, it will be a combined paid app with new name with renewal tariff at Rs1500 to 2000 per year,with Star and Color programmes may be free or nominal fee but all premium contents will be expensive.

I am most certain there will no merger of both apps however some content sharing or shift might be seen incase of some genres
 
Ad agencies pay top dollar for Connected TVs. They are a premium and affluent consumer base.

Viacom18 understands this that's why Anil Jayaraj said they won't put sports behind paywall.

If you put it behind paywall then it will hardly attract 3-5 million subscribers. It's pointless.

Still ad slots r sold for lot less price for Connected TV so ad revenues is not enough to get required returns to investment, there is a reason why OTT pricing is kept little high bcoz it helps garner more ARPU than linear television thus not being heavily dependent on ads particularly for content whose acquisition cost is more so while thru mobile streaming scale/higher volume of subscribers is achieved which helps sell ad slots to wider brand base at affordable rates incase of mass appealing properties like India Cricket and thru Connected TV effort is made to get good revenue both from subscription+ ads as audience base is small and caters to more affluent base which opt for more paid services too.

Right now Jio is focusing to widen its viewer base hence maybe still be okay with providing Free Streaming for most sporting action even on Connected TV but later same strategy shall not be continued

Let alone India even in developed countries where subscription to linear tv channels particularly sports channels costs a lot still popular sports events r watched by around 90% people on TV Channels rather than OTT which costs less bcoz of the overall viewing experience being good in former case

Do you have any data to prove that all 5.9Cr where mobile?

Hotstar had a solid HBO fanbase even before the launch of Jio or Disney+ Hotstar. They had 5-7 million subscribers. I don't think all of them were mobile users when mobile internet used to cost 98rs/gb.

Yes. Ad slots are sold at less price but Viacom18 announced that they made more money than linear television during IPL 2023 but neither parties provided any factual data.

It is pointless to compare developed country with India. They don't have our broadband or internet price.

If Freemium model is such a failure then why is Amazon Prime Video moving all their paid subscribers to Ad model?
