If we take 12% as service tax and if we take 3 million active connection then total service tax collected by Indian Govt is 30,00,000 * Rs 24 (Taking ARPU = Rs 200) = Rs 7,20,00,000 per month. Rs 86,40,00,000 per year. Besides state govt also get entertainment tax. So good source of revenue.:tup:tup

Every DTh operator should extend their services like intenet recharge, package upgrade/change etc to their international subscribers so that they would not have to depend on agents.

I think there are some legal issue in their licensing otherwise they would have done that.

There are reports that D2H has facilitated rechage using international cards or Dishtv has some international website for recharging. Not heard about other DTH but may be recharging from outside India is possible using their websites.

May be the problem is Indian govt. doesnt want to 'leak out' or propogate Indian problems via news channels, to other countries, specially neighbouring countries, for security reasons.

Also, licensing/down/uplinking could be an issue.

I've been using Indian Dth
since 2008

The main Reason
CRICKET IN HD

and Cricket in hindi

And secondly curiosity
About
Indian news and Entertainment content

And I think Indian
Dth operators
Facilitate these kind of connections in some manners

Other foreign govts can easily tap into the system for news as they have their own agents based in India. May be govt not allowing DTH to collect money directly from overseas customers.
BTW how subscribers from other countries can recharge online & for which DTH provider?
