You can enjoy existing 59 Channels on Mpeg2/4 STB, If u wanna 120 channels after 31st March, 2014 (tentative date), you have to buy DD Appoved/ Selected STB only. Also u have to Register ur STB at Call Centre.
Actually DD direct + Stb is a FTA box up to now, When DD+ Started and Public get the receivers from the market and then slowly 2 shopkeeper give it a name as DD direct + stb ok.
Now FTA boxes are mainly for Free to Air STB'S in which we can scan any fta channels from any satellites, But these boxes has various categories like MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and HD etc so if you want you must buy a minimum HD box these are not so costly ,The price start from Rs: 1800 to Rs:15.000 and above..
if they increase channel count to 120 and if they add remaining 60 channels in mpeg 4 i.e. encrypted channels . as we all know all old dd stb and dishtv stb are in mpeg 2 so they can't get newly added channels. i think mpeg4/hd fta stbs are only available at advance users only i.e. c band 6feet dish customers.if they encrypted 60 channels like other dth.even hd/mpeg4 fta stb can't get this channels and they need special dd stb with one time activation fee.
you need fta stb.i perchased it at 600 only.this stb in mpeg 2 and you can get 60 channels on it. wait if you want 120 channels . i think new dds new stb are now not available in market.
