They will appreciate the art after the artist is dead. After few days they will forget and be back to Sooryavan-sham and south movies.
They did air Anand after Rajesh Khanna's demise on prime time plus the Indian audience memory is short.
The South channels do a better job
Jaya TV aired Jayalalithaa and MGR movies for a fortnight while Kalaignar TV aired Karunanidhi's films for a week

Atleast those movies got airtime on Sony SAB. I left watching SAB after 2012. Until then they use air old movies on Sunday at 8 pm. Don't know when they stopped airing classic movies.
Even I miss those airings on SAB TV. This neeraj vyas guy has ruined SPN

AXN - Destroyed with re-runs. Use to be #1 channel in its genre. Nowadays nowhere near Top 5 mostly.
Animax - Gone. Best way to connect with youths. In NTO. This could be an premium offering.
Max - Destroyed Hindi movies space.
Six - Use to air expensive boxing pay per viewers and every niche sports available. Was #2 to Star's dominance. Destroyed after acquisition of Ten channels.
Sab - Airs too much crap. Was great in early 2010s. Relies mostly on reruns. Gone are unique shows like Lapataganj and R.K. Lakshman Ki Duniya. Forget that classic movies could be made available in HD. If aired on SAB.
Only SET is doing good.

Must give credit to Max 2 as well. As much as Neeraj Vyas demolished Max (and even more, Max HD), he has greatly improved Sony Max 2 and positioned it as a combination of Zee Classic and Zee Bollywood.

In all other aspects, however, Neeraj Vyas is the man who drove Sony to near-ruination.

Improving second grade channel while destroying the main channel. Doesn't deserve appreciation. But the employee deserve to get fired instead.

Well hindi movie cluster not headed by Mr. Vyas hence u cannot say he was the one who took all decisions regarding it. Secondly strategic decision r taken collectively, Sony chose to just see return of investment which was more for dubbed south indian content (later reduced) and gave bollywood less preference (except older films which had airtime after launch of max2). This has led to them having fewer bollywood titles which fetch major viewership hence they fall back heavily on dubbed content which again has diff dynamics as far as generating ad revenue is concerned. Bollywood Movies though expensive to acquire get lot more ad rates on hindi movie chs, star or zee has that advantage which Sony forego despite options earlier
