Star World Premiere HD now on the way to Say Good Bye to US as per New RIO of Disney-Star and Now it's Airing Some Memorable Episodes of "Coffee With Karan" randomly.

It's really a Great Pleasure to Watch again the Episode 25 of Season 1 where Karan interacts candidly with "Shahenshah Bachchan" & "Baadshah Khan" - Now Playing on SWP HD

I am seeing this from last few months.

How many states and union territories we got? 27 states and 8 Union Territories. We are a country within country. There is so much to show. Take 30 minutes to air cultural shows and documentaries about our country. Instead of crying foul. Try to show beauty of a country where you get to run your businesses.

So Viacom not only has made their biggest competition Star disappear from English entertainment. They even got shows unavailable on streaming platform on their line-up. Hopefully, same happens in sports too.

Dunno who watches Goodnews Today. Tez atleast had Lallantop for couple of years. It's time to revamp it to Business Today. I don't get the point of not capitalising a popular brand.

Disney-Star has much larger portfolio of content/channels on linear TV mode and even many miles ahead of viacom18 in OTT space whether u consider the range of content or subscribers.

Viacom18 has nothing to do with Disney-Star deciding to pull the plug on its English GEC channels..... Strong penetration of internet as well as OTT getting popular among the audience of such channels is the prime reason why they have chosen the option to shutdown the English GEC TV Channels and focus on catering to the core audience via their hugely successful Disney+Hotstar OTT platform

As i have said earlier too that they should have continued with Star World SD/HD and brought in mix of iconic old shows and new content (which requires less censorship) as this would have helped cater to emerging audience who is keen to sample/watch English/International content & even regular audience finds it convenient & appealing to watch good curated content on TV Channels if offered at affordable pricing. Hopefully they will reconsider the decision and relaunch these channels in new avatar soon.

Viacom18 does not have rights of much international content on its OTT platform Voot hence is focusing to cater to this audience via its English GEC TV Channels.

On sports front too, still Star Sports Network holds a strong lead / edge over Sony Sports & Viacom18 and will continue to hold onto it atleast for next 3 years. Viacom18 has lots of financial and other resources to invest on acquiring rights/content but still it remains to be seen how well they manage and broadcast all these events across their linear TV channels as well as OTT platforms. Remember Viacom18 may initially spend lots of money to build a robust sports portfolio and customer base but later they will have to find ways to monetize all the investments which is an extremely difficult task. Disney-Star on the other hand has a very well established & properly managed sports broadcast business hence it can not only leverage the assets in best possible manner but even use the experience of its workforce to further build upon / expand in order to compete with its rivals on different fronts

IMO it's best. They have different brand and identify. It looks way cool to viewers. If anything was given same brand it would be boring. Just look at Movies OK. It is so much better than Star Gold 2.

Deciding upon having a different branding under same network is based on variety of reasons

- If a company takes over another broadcaster then in many cases they continue operating channels under different branding rather than bringing the acquired channels into its own fold (brand name). Many times depending upon popularity of a network in a region, the company which had acquired a broadcaster in a particular region even tends to rebrand its own channels into locally relevant identity/branding

- If there is a tie-up between some broadcasters then again u will see multiple branding of channels operating under single entity. Like incase of viacom18 Colors, Sonic is home grown brand of Viacom18 while MTV , Vh1, CNBC, Comedy Central, Nick etc. are all Viacom brands which have been launched in India. Similarly u can see now Disney-Star has many brand identities under its fold... On TV front there is Star, Disney, UTV, Nat Geo, Fox Life while on OTT space there is Hotstar which after being merged with Disney+ is now called Disney+Hotstar... Also both viacom18 and Disney-Star have different arms of TV/Movie production. Jio is a telecom brand/company of Reliance hence it cannot be counted as a part of its broadcast business, just that they have converged all the businesses to cater to wider audience base and have a synergy among all these platforms

Here's the problem. International series doesn't release Tamil and Telugu audio for International shows. But does same for movies. Hence, they retained Star Movies and decided to discontinue Star World.

Buddy, please stop bringing this Tamil, Telugu language point in every discussion. It is unwarranted. Already explained in detail why broadcasters tend to focus on launching separate sports channels for Tamil, Telugu language....it is needed and viable business decision. Even generally Tamil Nadu has biggest TV penetration and i believe it would also have highest % of state population which would be opting for Pay TV Platform hence obviously it is a region which broadcasters find most attractive for launching new channels even though there is intense competition
