The downfall is because no one really watches crappy soap operas in U.S whereas in India there's still a large audience for it. In U.S cable tv is way too expensive so what they do is subscribe to Netflix, Hulu & HBO for shows and for sports they can either go with iptv since their internet is stable and fast or else subscribe to other OTT services for it. This will still cost them half of what cable will and the benefits of watching it at anytime they want.

In India it will happen too once there is no demand for crappy soap operas. I don't see people of todays generation watch it anyway. People didn't know what GOT or Breaking Bad was few years back and now almost everyone says its their favourite. Demand for good content is growing in India and thats why there are shows like sacred games and mirzapur! The only reason to have DTH/cable for me is sports which definitely looks good on big screen but Star is ensuring that those who don't watch cricket will suffer. Someone needs to show them a middle finger asap or they will ruin sports for good.
Nobody watches soap opera in US. Does the Spanish speaking population watches Narcos over Telemundo?
Off topic :wink2: : How many watching Bharat today?

Spanish population over there are experts in illegal iptv distribution. :tongue2: Not sure what they like to watch though!

1983 American media was one of the strongest media hold in entire world .
More than 50 big media networks ruled the television space.
But after 36 years due to migration of audience from satellite to digital and merge happening it has reduced to 4.
They are
1. Disney entertainment( include Fox)
2.Comcast Universal
3. AT&T ( Turner)
4. Viacom-CBS

in further it may even reduce to only 2 media

Where is the source on 50 big media networks ruling the television space? As an Indian living in America my whole life, I don't think it is true. There has always been a select few companies ruling most of the media. Mergers and acquisitions have surely consolidated them, but there certainly were never 50 big networks. For instance, there have always been 4 major network TV broadcasters (CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX) and 3 major cable news channels (CNN, Fox News, MSNBC) in America. On cable, only a handful of media companies have always controlled most of the channels as well.

I think Disney will buy AT&T and Comcast will buy ViacomCBS

Viacom and CBS aren't together at the moment, but they were at one point. The current rumors suggest that they may merge, as Viacom has been struggling in recent years to keep viewers. Disney already owns too much of the Hollywood box office market (38%). Regulators would not allow further consolidation with AT&T/WarnerMedia (16%). Also, from an American consumers standpoint, Comcast and AT&T are some of the most hated companies in the country.

Actually, the Spanish-language broadcaster Univision consistently delivers better ratings than some of the English-lanugage American broadcasters. It is available free over-the-air and popular with the Latino community. Telemundo, owned by NBCUniversal, is not quite as popular, but is another free OTA channel.

I really wanted to see Bharat. I might go on Saturday. For anybody who's seen it, how is it?

I was joking about soap opera on Telemundo bro. I have no clue about what Latino community watches.
