Let court judges also understand what is happening due to NTO 2.0 to customers, and judges are also among them

Broadcasters are in big tension, they were selling lowest priced packs because Zee,Sony,Colour and Star Plus was part of their most popular packs, they are in tension now who will buy these pack without main popular channel and if lowest priced pack is not selling what they will do to sell them, they may have to think and change their strategy and I think Sony and Zee will be first to reduce thier SD channel price from Rs 23/24 to Rs19 or may be 12 who knows,TRAI gamble is very far reaching affect on all of them, and it will happen within 6 to 8 months

The broadcasters will make sure, dpo packs gets discounted price so all their low priced channels are included.

In other words, if u choose ala carte, u end up getting only those channels. But if you choose DPO packs, u get ala carte + other low priced channels at same cost.

Your total monthly bill will be NCF + Ala carte of ur channels. low priced channels will come as discount by DPO

Strategy being followed by Broadcasters :

If Broadcasters declare lower price as 12 now, it might be creating a public perception that channel price is lower, but Broadcasters have charged wilfully more until now. Further, they cannot increase channel prices in few months if SC verdict goes in their favour as they have accepted cost of channel is 12. This will affect their public reputation. Any benefit / reduction in price cannot be easily reversed without negative perception.

To overcome this trouble and in order to respond to TRAI's notice Broadcasters have played a safe game.

Another Rate will be published in December or January saying : we are magnanimously decreasing our prices to help customers

It's the opposite, perception has gone that broadcasters have willingly increased prices of most chs/bouquet offerings . Even if Supreme Court case goes in their favour (less likely in my opinion) they will further increase a-la-carte prices in next RIO while giving bouquet at discounted rates.

Overall they have not played safe game but infact created negative perception within public who may start understanding that broadcasters can give chs at low price right now but not doing so bcoz they want advance payment, discounted bouquet system bsck

In NTO 2.0, no capping on channel prices for Distributor bouquets. So they can bundle ›12 rupees channels at their discounted prices and also give ⅓ bouquet discount.

They cannot do so. Operators will have to pay full broadcaster share of MRP, giving discount will dent operator revenue
