MUMBAI: India Today Television made its way to the second position in the hierarchy of English news channels in a week where genre leader Times Now shed almost 35.78 per cent weekly impressions in thousands. Even as Times Now saw a drop in weekly impressions, its three main competitors, namely India Today Television, NDTV 24×7 and CNN-IBN, saw a good increase.
Thus, the gap between the two channels reduced to 18 weekly impressions in thousands in the week ended 5 February. The hotly contested fifth position went to BBC World News, with the previous week’s fifth-placer News 9 bowing out of the top five.
Hindi news channels In the Hindi general news genre, ABP News had to forego the third slot to India News. Zee News was shunted out of the top five channels as ABP News replaced it as the No. 4 channel during the week. News Nation re-entered the top five rankings by taking the fifth spot. The top two players, Aaj Tak and India TV, cemented their place in the No. 1 and 2 slots respectively. Hindi news top 5 channels week 5 yr16 Except for India News, the top three channels from the previous week saw a significant drop in their weekly impressions with Aaj Tak witnessing the maximum drop. English business news The English business news genre remained quiet, with CNBC TV18 sitting nicely at the top for the second week in a row.
