Mahabharatam casting is being done by a professional agency.

Curiosity is high surrounding V A Shrikumar's upcoming big budget film Mahabharatham, which claims to have a budget of Rs 1000 crores. However, other than Mohanlal, who plays the lead character, that of Bheeman, the rest of the cast hasn't been decided yet, informs the director.

However, the film will be made in five different languages - Hindi and the four south Indian languages - so the cast will be from across India, says Shrikumar. "An internationally acclaimed casting agency is doing the casting for the film. It is a film which is made in India, but for the global audience," he says.

Earlier, it was rumoured that Amitabh Bachchan is part of the movie but the actor later denied it. "Amitabh Bachchan could also be a character in the movie but it all depends on his dates and availability," says the director. Shoot for the film begins in 2018 September and is based on M T Vasudevan Nair's novel Randamoozham.
