I think they are cancelled both Star Gold Romance and Thrills last year December itself, after lot of new bollywood movies failure, like Star Acquired 83 big failure against Pushpa and Spider man NWH. even they Acquired other movies too big flops in terms of box office.

Still not sure if plan has been cancelled or not. They may as well launch these channels and air mix of bollywood + dubbed hollywood movies+ few dubbed south indian movies across their hindi movie channels. UTV Action mostly airs dubbed hollywood movies from action/horror genre so Star Gold Thrills can continue to accommodate most of these films & add bollywood action movies too in the schedule. I believe a dedicated channel for dubbed hollywood movies finds it difficult to get high ratings and a mix content channel would address this concern. Dubbed Hollywood Movies from other genre can continue to be shown across other Disney Star Hindi Movie Channels including some occasional airing on Star Gold Thrills like it also happens right now on UTV Action. Star Gold Romance can air romantic films from bollywood, hollywood ... Disney Star i believe will air much of older YRF films on this channel which until now have not find adequate space on their hindi movie channels

Current bollywood movies failing is inconsequential with regard to taking decision about launching Star Gold Romance and Star Gold Thrills as disney star has huge bollywood movie library which contains many older movies and same can be aired on these channels apart from some new movies. Usually new movies r reserved for Star Gold and Star Gold 2. Secondary Channels usually feature older bollywood films as u can see from content line up on UTV Movies and such movies connect extremely well with larger audience thus getting good ratings for the channel.

Also looking forward to other new channels and rebranding / revamp of existing channels. Another great thing which is likely to happen is inclusion of Star Movies, Star Gold Select in basic bouquet . Even Disney Channels would be incorporated within existing Star Bouquets. A new retro bollywood movie channel might also be launched and awaiting to see if bindass is again revamped as a youth channel airing mix of shows, music and movies. Possibly we can even see a kids movie channel being introduced. Excited to see what is aired on Disney Channel HD

If costly sports channels are excluded from Star Value Prime Bouquet then it will be a good step as subscribers would get option to watch other channels at lower cost or some additional channels in this bouquet at current prices. No need to unnecessarily pay for sports channels thru the year. I believe a mid level bouquet would include all channels of Star Value Prime Bouquet and Star Sports channels and same can be subscribed by those wanting to watch even star sports channels on their connection

So Star probably scrap UTV Channels if UTV Movies continuously gets similar popularity like Star Gold, already closed OK brand when it's gets huge popularity competition with their own Star GEC and Movie Channel. Comparing with Star currently Zee only managed well &And brand expanded GEC to English movie channels.

You are wrong Siva Bro. NTO 1.0 had capping of bouquet discount which stood at 33%. You can read the below article or even read the old rules on TRAI website

NTO 2.0 was mainly brought in by Ex Chairman of TRAI bcoz broadcasters were keeping key channels A-La-Carte rates high and combining many low+high rates channel in bouquet and thereby giving these bouquet at highly discounted price.. As the twin condition of "A-La-Carte Price of channel included in bouquet should not be more than two and half times the average price of channels which r included in a bouquet" was struck down by honorable court so more low priced channels were combined with high priced channels in bouquet thus not only customers were being pushed with unnecessary channels but as a result standalone prices of certain key channels remained to be extremely high.
Here are the details of the twin conditions which were brought through amendments in NTO 2.0 but 2nd part of struck down by honorable court

Standalone price cap of Rs. 12 was bought in with the intention of lowering A-La-Carte of these keys channels and avoid exploitation of the earlier price capping of Rs. 19
You can read about it here

Broadcasters want to just complete make NTO rules suited to their liking. Read here

I so miss Mr RN Sharma, Ex Chairman of TRAI as he stood by what was in interest of consumers and took on broadcasters who were trying to just make NTO Rules look consumer unfriendly by hiking prices thereby looking for ways to get amendments to it. Now NTO 2.O rules r again not good for consumers as again we r being pushed to opt for bouquet :(
We have discussed this topic expensively on the forum. So I think I know what I'm talking about. 33% cap was NTO 2.0 not 1.0. In 1.0, it was 15%. The 15% cap rule was removed by Madras High Court. And SC ruling after that was not clear to TRAI, and they have mistakenly understood that SC upheld the madras HC ruling in it's entirety, rather than the NTO 1.0 as a whole. When they went back to SC for clarification, they were scolded by the court. So all the broadcasters released the bouquets without any discount cap and TRAI couldn't do anything about it. That's why all the current bouquets are so cheap. Now with NTO 2.0, that is also gone. With no reduction in MRP the NTO 2.0 would just make things costlier for the viewers and that's what has happened here. You can read the NTO 2.0 order itself which clearly mentions all this.

You are wrong Siva Bro. NTO 1.0 had capping of bouquet discount which stood at 33%.
Sony Happy India Pack 31, Channels total MRP 63, pack price 31, discount 50.79%
Star SPP Hd Marathi pack, Channels total MRP 239.10, pack price 120, discount 49.83%

Few examples, stating that there isn't a cap on pack discounts, there was a 15% discount set by TRAI on bouquets, it was set aside by Madras High Court.

I think TRAI acted lazy that time. That laziness has put us in this situation today. That time trai should have asked broadcasters to again release RIO as per SC order by postponing NTO date by few months.

This is the another step they are forcing the customers to go toward OTT.
Disappointed with RIO of all broadcasters till now. Cancel NTO 2.0. let existing NTO continue.
Cancel NTO 1.0 also. We want all channels in 150 to 200 Rs. or atmost 250 Rs. We will be happy if broadcasters or Dth will force us to watch unwanted channels in low price as compared to now (selected channels at high price)
