why TRAI care about unwanted channels?, is any consumer complain to them for having unwanted channels? most unwanted channels are from doordarshan ( prasar Bharati), I think TRAI sold to OTT platforms and telecom operators🤢, always south indian customers are at receiving end, nto 2.0 will make cable/ dth cost ₹500pm🤦
I think TRAI already sold to indian billionaire businessman, even their own media broadcasting company silent mode because some regulations favour of their own telecom company.
If you have broadband connection, then it will be good time for scrapping TV connection and take OTT subs/add on.
Even OTT players too maybe start NCF like charge from subscribers. mostly they will include charge in subscription.

I think we need to mail to Trai that consumers not satisfied with your both NTO withdraw this or take strict action

from trai amendment order, you can see "consumer organisations", but who are they, what they are doing, who are all it members, trai needs to be dissolved, waste of public money.

Big Businessman is nothing do in this as his Viacom18 (4th broadcaster in terms of revenue) cannot hike boutique price of its channels in NTO 2.0. Main culprits are MSO/Cable operators were hide its consumers before NTO, Broadcasters (STAR & Sony) disconnects them for non payments/under reporting before Big sports events and some DTH providers cutting cables of some MSOs, which have low pricing strategy. Now TRAI have some clarity in the broadcasting sector after NTO, but consumers have finally punished with high prices.

Are you sure there was another amendment after this?, I'm sure there wasn't a one that has been implemented since, Atleast I'm using the same price packaging.

You can surf through DPO websites for broadcast packs and find what is provided now, else please attach a RIO that is active on a DPO and that is providing a cap of 33% as you're saying.

P.S. The Rs.12 cap for channels to be in a bouquet, if that's what you're talking about, it was never implemented.

There had been certain changes implemented before Supreme Court ordered status quo until final verdict is out....eventually in Feb 2022 broadcasters had withdrawn their plea from Supreme Court. Also just to let u know operators had already implemented NTO 2.0 rules long back which increases FTA channel count in entrt NCF Slab to 200 and Multi TV NCF was lowered to Rs. 61 for entry NCF Slab

Current RIO of various broadcasters have a bouquet price cap of 33% which was brought in thru amendments in 2020-21. Rs. 12 capping on A-La-Carte channel pricing was not adopted by broadcasters and status quo was maintained on it bcoz of honorable court order. Since Feb 2022 plea was withdrawn from court but as TRAI entered into consultations with broadcasters,,operators hence old standing RIO and NTO rules have continued until now.

As i have stated 1st of the twin conditions as stated in NTO rules is still applicable and current broadcaster bouquet have been designed accordingly. If there was no bouquet price cap then u would have seen broadcasters increasing standalone prices long back when RIO was introduced. Some broadcasters like disney star ,,viacom18, sony have updated / brought New RIO few times since NTO was 1st implemented in beginning of 2020 until same was disallowed by the court order.

Price ceiling for a-la-carte channels was brought down to Rs. 12 in last NTO rule amendments as broadcasters were still offering key driver channels at quite high individual pricing as compared to the pricing when these channels were included in broadcaster bouquet . This happened as 2nd twin condition was struck down by court

You still don't understand. The regulation that is currently in place for consumers, is NTO 1.0, i.e., without any discount capping on the bouquets. NTO 2.0 had never come into the DPO hands due to various reasons which have been extensively discussed. The RIO that were published post Bombay high court judgement and SC appeal by the broadcasters (No stay from SC) had huge al-a-carte pricing. After this, Broadcasters and TRAI had an agreement to discuss this amicably, which was why the broadcasters withdrew the SC appeal and the published RIO (With huge al-a-carte MRPs) have been put on hold. Now, after the consultation process, NTO 2.0 had again been amended with a max MRP of 19 for any channel to be in a bouquet and the discount capping had been increased to 45%, which is toothless. Because, even in NTO 1.0 (The current one which is at consumer's disposal), the bouquet discounts were at 50-55% anyway and this ruling just making things costlier. Revised NTO 2.0 will be in effect starting Feb 1st. The said 33% discount packages have never seen the light at consumer homes, as they have never been released to the DPOs. Hope this makes it clear.

Anna,,please refer to above post as it also answers ur queries.
The high pricing RIO u r referring to was made complying with NTO 2.0 updared regulations which were to come into effect but now these points stand cancelled/revised. These had nothing to do with ongoing NTO 1.0 updated regulations .

The No stay order by supreme court was for Old NTO 1.0 updated/amended regulations and not for NTO 2.0 as for the same court had directed status quo (continuing ongoing NTO RIO) until final verdict comes out but as u know in Feb 2022 broadcasters withdrew this plea and entered consultation process with TRAI.

Now under revised NTO guidelines bouquet price capping has been increased to 45%. DPO bouquet provided broadcaster bouquet in such packs at higher discount than applicable by passing extra benefits they got thru incentive route or they themselves absorbed extra cost burden and balanced it out with other revenues generated by them.

The RIO which was to comply with Rs. 12 price ceiling for a-la-carte channels included in bouquet never came into effect.

Lastly the last "high priced" RIO was not published by broadcasters after TRAI and broadcasters decided to amicably resolve the issue but it was published in September - October 2021 as Ex Chairman of TRAI had directed broadcasters to do so , they did so but same was not implemented as case was in court and status quo was allowed by the court

Don’t mention Rs 12 Again again as its is on paper only, First you check and compare a la carte and broadcaster boutiques on your DTH providers website and calculate discount.
