I spoke with customer care this morning and he has confirmed that the recording facility on HD STB will be available from March 15.
Good to see that now they are confirming the dates as well.

two day ago i got a mail from d2h when ask about new software for hd boxes

Dear Mr. Anil Kumar,

A software upgrade for the HD Set Top boxes is being planned in the next few weeks, to facilitate recording and Playback from USB storage devices.


Due to some unanticipated issues, the release had to be delayed. Kindly bear the delay.
