Both movies rights were with Reliance Entertainment earlier on but now rights r with Excel Films....usually this happens as initial distribution partner holds rights for a limited duration
Even reliance had a deal with star at that time bodyguard Singham break ke baad went to star and rce wasn't associated with Don 2 i think they offered them a higher price than star that's they went to Sony and zee

No buddy, Reliance Entertainment held rights of Don 2 until sometime back and they partnered with multiple broadcasters at various times, sometimes these were short term or long term exclusive deals while for a smaller period around 2011 - 12 they had movie output deals with both sony and zee which is why Don 2 premiered on Zee though at that time Star India - Excel Films agreement was ongoing and Talaash (2012) went to Sony despite its producers Excel Films having ongoing agreement with Zee while Aamir Khan had movie output deal with Zee at that point of time.... Even UTV at that time had short term exclusive agreement with Sony thus Dharma Productions 2012 movies Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani, Gippy premiered on Sony TV while Student Of The Year premiered on Sony too as they would have acquired it via AA Films as at that point its producers Dharma Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment did not have any exclusive partnership with any broadcaster
