South rights sun network

The TV Industry decline is pretty insane... during 2018-19-20 almost every channel used to have its own slate of movies, almost every movie of South used to come in hindi dubbed, goldmines aditya movies used to lead that time, Sony Max used to premiere almost 5-6 dubbed movies per month, same was going with Colors, Zee, And Star. Even enterr 10 movies used to be a channel, and it used to premiere 1 dubbed movie every Sunday. See the popularity, Goldmines even launched their own channel named Dhinchak, in which they started premiering some movies and giving the others to Sony max... They launched Goldmines and stopped the syndication deal with max, and thought to premiere it in their own channel, but see the result. Even though goldmines is highest TRP gainer in charts, it is unable to premiere movies properly, right now they are not even investing much money behind acquisitions of new movies, they already have many previous movies in their list, but they are not yet premiered.. Earlier they used to release 4-5 dubbed movies with max, now they are even struggling with 1...max on the other hand has even stopped acquiring the rights of South Indian films, this whole year Max focused heavily on bollywood films, which is good, but even they are noy not ready to invest in South films which actually has a pretty good audience base in max, they premiered 8 South films in this entire year... star on the other hand has gone entirely low in overall acquisitions. In October they literally had nothing to premiere, in November they premiered just sarfira and godzilla X kong, colors Cineplex has a good South viewing audience, so they are pretty stable in acquisitions and premieres.. Every week they are premiering latest dubbed movies of this year and they are even going big with popular films Like The Family Star, Indian 2, Surya's Saturday, zee is overall the leader in premieres with highest number of both hindi and South premieres in this year as well... Many bollywood films starring popular faces are even struggling to find a TV partner, Marry Christmas after 12 months of release doesn't have a TV premiere, Bhakshak starring Bhumi Pednekar produced by Red Chillies released in Feb, but still didn't have a TV premiere, Vidya Balan starrer Do Aur Do Pyaar didn't have a yet TV premiere, Ishq Vishq Rebound don't have a TV partner and even Bad Newz after releasing in July don't have a premiere date, Ulajh released in 2nd August starring Janhavi Kapoor has no updates regarding TV rights, popular South Indian stars like Rajnikanth are even struggling to sell TV rights, Laal Salaam has a TV premiere after almost 10 months, and that also not in India, Kalki released in June don't have a TV Premiere date yet even after having a 1000+ crores collection, Ayalaan didn't get a TV premiere yet, even superhit films on BO like Premalu, Manjummmel Boys, malaikottai valiban starring Mohanlal didn't premiere on TV , Eagle starring Ravi Teja a big name for TV doesn't has a TV premiere, Turbo Starring mammotty and the list will just go on... Overall, we can conclude that the decline in TV industry reach is crazy, acquisition cost are increasing in comparison to profits, and OTTs are killing the satellite market, resulting in such a drastic decline in rights acquisition strategy by different channela....

Devara part 1 is also unsold, in an article I read that maddock is asking more money for stree 2 post blockbuster success. Pushpa is sold already but will be in similar situation if response not positive. Kalki producer is trying to sell all rights to a single network. It is supposed to go to star first but star rejected it after salaar underperformed in south versions on tv, salaar only worked in hindi.
Another movie kill which is not premiered yet, I have doubt about this being with star. Sony MAX posted about kill in facebook. I never saw MAX posting about movies with #Movies#Bollywood hash tag which they don't have rights. Post is still available in facebook.

Now-a-days movies aren't working on tv much

Disney-Star has agreement with fewer banners which r producing latest bollywood movies hence premiere rate is less but still they have had many bollywood movie premieres both from mainstream and critically acclaimed / offbeat segment.....also they r leading in premiering many hindi dubbed hollywood movies and even original english version of the same. ... Also Disney-Starchas built a robust and dedicated audience base for above content so it gets great ratings for all these movies whereas rivals lag behind on the same.

TV Industry is not in decline but broadcasters need reinvent, innovate ad bring in content + have a proper strategy to reach wider audience across genres

I personally feel number of hindi film releases is also in a steady decline, in October there were just 2 releases Jigra and Vicky Vidya Ka woh wala video which can be termed under big releases, Bandaa Singh Chaudhury and Navras Katha were the smaller releases with absolute 0 satellite value... In November there were just 5 theatrical releases, bhool bhulaiya 3, singham again, I want to talk and the sabarmati report, naam is not one of the latest release, neither it will have great value on TV, in December also yet now there are just 2 theatrical releases, Vanvaas and baby John, whereas in 2023, in October there were 9 big or medium budget theatrical releases, in November there were 9 big or medium sized releases and in December there were 4 big or medium sized releases, including animal and dunki... This year, Most of the films are sold to OTT platforms on a exclusive basis and that's why most of them never premiere on TV, art or craft based films which has a niche audience just stopped releasing in theatres and they are just directly selling out the rights to OTTs. Do Patti, The Miranda Brothers, The Signature, Despatch, CTRL, ae watan mere watan, murder mubarak, agni are prime examples of movies exclusively distributed by otts and sold to OTT and might never premiere on TV in the recent future. Whereas if these films would have released on theatres, some of them might have been sold to different channels... Both the releases of December are sold on TV, Vanvas and Baby John both are with Zee cinema, also the November releases are sold, Bb 3 with max, Singham 3 with Zee, I want to talk probably with max and Sabarmati Report is with Zee, all October releases like Jigra and Vicky Vidya are sold, one with colors and the other with max.. The question remains is if movies doesn't release, then how can channels even acquire rights? It's a simple equation, lesser the number of movies, lesser the number of premieres in TV in every channel because there are so many channels in Tv
