At first I am against 30 days lock-in policy which is absurd. What if we accidentally select any channel with no ability to remove and get charged for a full month. It's time Sun and Dish D2h to move to 1 day lock-in period.

Coming to my point. I am a Tata Sky user. We have 0 day lock-in period for normal channels and 1 day lock-in period for service channel except Tata Sky Bollywood and Tata Sky Bollywood HD which has 30 days lock-in period. I can easily add and enjoy a channel for the day. Then drop it midnight without being charged a single penny. Here operator is losing the well deserved subscription revenue because of flaws in the system.

So, it's time we move to more realistic approach. And move from 0 to 1 day lock-in policy.

There should not be any lock in period but if we remove any channel before 30 days or even the same day, then it should be charge as full. NOT 22.42/30= 0.75 for a single day.. I don't know why broadcasters are giving this option. People misuse this method. Otherwise 30 days lock-in period also a good option. Purchasing a channel just for 1 day should not be allowed..

0 day lock in period is just temporary, operators know misuse and they will probably remove this soon.

BTW broadcasters are loosing more here, operators are still getting their NCF so maybe that's why Tata Sky and ADTV are targeting cable TV users to first move to DTH then they will increase the lock in period.

Answers to why broadcasters is allowing this.

Correct me if I am wrong. Broadcasters gets good ratings because of temporary customers which attracts advertisers. So subscription revenue must be peanuts during a movie premiere or a cricket match. Meanwhile same affects negatively for smaller broadcasters.

BTR(before TRAI rules) we watched a lot of channels. Now limited channels, that we picking. eg. I subscribed a sports channel for my favourite game. The game end and I not unsubscribe immediately . By lazy it becomes a day. In that they give pressure for us, that I sure irritate. So the 0 day is better one ATR(after TRAI rules)

Here's the thing people are not getting anna. People buy Star Sports Select for Premier League and drop it same day because of which the channel is not getting enough money. If same keeps on happening. Soon no one will be able to acquire expensive sporting rights.

I also agreed the point. Then the TRAI again implement the past rule. That we get unencrypted service. The channel also get the money and they give us more contents. We also free from subscribe and unsubscribe.....

How many people know about this
Only you can unsubscribe channels from mobile app on same day
SMS service has 1 day lock in period
It is not available in cable TV connection
If you ask your relative ,neighbor, friends about channel lock in period only few will be able to answer your queries otherwise they will give you simple answer that can't drop channels daily
153 RS per month minimum bill will come
So there is no loss in company revenue

The DPO should deduct 1 day's charge as soon as the channel is subscribed to and even if it is unsubscribed after 10 seconds the charge should not be refunded. If the person re-subscribes after unsubscribing before midnight of same day he shouldn't be charged again.

Too complex to implement, the money already gets deducted immediately after subscribing to any channel, and the money is refunded for the day on which it's unsubscribed. This is being done before NTO, increasing lock in period is a lot simpler to achieve same goal.
