Six new Channels to be launched from Sai Prasad Media group

In a move to strengthen its presence in regional markets, Sai Prasad Media Group is planning to launch as many as six channels this year. Confirming the news to exchange4media, Shashank Bhapkar, Managing Director, Sai Prasad Group said, “In the coming year, we are planning to launch six more channels. We also want to cover different interests of our audiences in genres such as entertainment and religion.”

The group is currently operating its HD news channel News Express. It recently announced its plans to enter the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. In order to expand their offerings in TV and print with a regional touch, the group is launching one Marathi channel, one Marathi magazine and one Hindi channel.

The group will be competing with strong existing players in the Marathi space that includes Mi Marathi, Zee Marathi, IBN Lokmat and IBC 24.

Senior journalist SN Vinod will be heading the Marathi channel, while the regional channels that will be launched in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will be headed by senior journalist SP Tripathi.

The group also publishes a weekly newspaper, ‘Humvatan’, from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and other Hindi speaking states.
