Hotstar most of subscribers from telecom companies bundled plans, overall it's loss venture for them and less subscription share if we compare with Netflix or Amazon.
That's some 38% subscribers if I am not wrong. Most were pay subscribers not telecom bundled subscribers. It was sports that was bringing in subscribers.

Still lot of people getting live sports channels cricketing season time through their DTH/Cable combo packages.
Can we need switch to DTH (Rs.250+ bill )again just to watch live sports for cord cutters?

If Hotstar stucks with ICC only, then they have not more than 7 matches in a year with Indian cricket players.
They will atleast have one India vs Pakistan match which is one of the most streamed content of the year.

Women's PSL also live on SONY TEN 5 TOMORROW

According to Media Partners Asia, Telecom bundles contributed 65-70% of the total Hotstar subscribers. That's why the ARPU kept declining quarter over quarter (QoQ) as subscriptions were sold wholesale to Telecom companies.

In my opinion, Sports (BCCI, ICC, IPL, ACC, F1) were the reason people were subscribing to the bundled plans with their telecom reacharge but I've seen Disney/Marvel fans defend it is because of the depth of Disney content that they get huge net addition of subscribers every quarter.
