Buddy.. Disney brought the entire Lucasfilm (ie., Lucasfilm, Lucasfilm Animation, Skywalker Sound, Industrial Light and Magic) for just around 4 billion dollars.. IPL media rights for 5 years were around 2.55 billion dollars...

BTW., the article never compared directly what they are worth dude, they relatively compared their impact in India and the US if they were to loose the rights for them.

How the hell did you find the Indian comparison of Star Wars and IPL if there isn't any.
If you hadn't seen it already, I hope you had seen it because you had quoted the above post already. Idk what to call that if isn't explaining....
Than don't play the arrogant card. If I had done a mistake. You could've explained it. Instead of accusing me of bluntly commenting.

Ps. I just saw you were re editing all the earlier posts. If you hadn't misunderstood in the first place there is no need for editing them imo. Anyhow thanks for letting me know I'm arrogant..

Idk what are you talking about? I am not re-editiing any post. Check the time. Editing time is always there along with post.

I accept my mistake. I misread the article. I apologise for calling you an arrogant person. I didn't saw the first paragraph. I was all over multiple threads. Somehow I missed the first paragraph where you were explaining the facts. I hope you didn't took it to heart. There is no shame in accepting mistake when you are getting knowledge in return.

I think this comparison of Stars Wars franchise & IPL is itself flawed. It's a no brainer that cricket would always rule over any Hollywood franchise in India. The more logical comparison would have been comparing BCCI rights & IPL Rights.

It is always known that Hotstar acquired most subscriber only because of their sports content. Otherwise they don't have enough scripted content to acquire customer like Netflix can do. In countries like India, a major portion of people use Telegram to watch scripted series. While in case of sports live stream piracy is kind of hard. The comparison is childish.

But I think hotstar has more subscribers because earlier jio and Airtel customers have free access to it. Now also one can subscribe with just 399 supercoins.
I have also till date enjoying free hotstar contents.

Hotatar gets large audience for movies and tv shows too...sports add to it and makes it a preferred platform for all. Also they r quite affordable

IPL- " An average of 105 million unique viewers watched 17 matches in the first two weeks of IPL 2021, registering a dip of 9.5% over last year as per BARC data. In 2020, an average of 116 million unique viewers watched 14 matches in the first two weeks of the league. IPL matches started on April 9.

In the opening week, a total of 268 million viewers watched the first eight matches (9 to 16 April) of Indian Premier League (IPL), said IPL’s official television broadcaster Star and Disney India which runs Star Sports, quoting data from BARC. The data represents viewers above two years of age across urban and rural markets. This amounted to a 13% viewership decline over the 2020 edition where seven matches were watched by 269 million viewers. Star did not offer comment on the decline."

Toba Toba:hehe:... IPL is seeing decline in first week viewership while ISL is seeing an upward movement...:lol:. I wander what will happen to the next cycle rights.
Note- There are many other article which tells about viewership numbers. You can search it in google if you want.
