The ET report states differently that till October these events will be on the current channels also but post that only on these select HD channels.

So no SD select channels will be launched in future.

Even the afaqs report states that either the consumers have to watch these events on HD or on hotstar behind a paywall which means no SD coverage of these events.

Star has paid millions of dollars for these rights and will try to monetize them finally with a very high cost per channel possibly 150-200/- per month. So if they get 1 million subscribers you can imagine how much they can earn.

Let's see how Indians opt for this idea.

Last month Star India’s announcement of dedicating eight channels for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games made headlines with Star Sports and Hotstar broadcasting over 3,000 hours of live content. Now it is upping its game by bringing out two new HD channels called Star Sports Select HD1 and HD2 exclusively for international tournaments like Premiere League, Bundesliga, Formula One and Grand Slam titles.

Nitin Kukreja, CEO, Star Sports says, “With Star Sports Select HD1 and HD2 we will be creating a destination with more games, lot more behind-the-scenes coverage and game analysis which sometimes get missed out. It will be much more enhanced viewing experience as it will only be HD. This will be supplemented by the multi-platform viewing experience of Hotstar.”

The channels will go live from first week. Kukreja discusses his content strategy, “From the start, we will have build-up programming to Premiere League scheduled on August 13. It will consist of analysis of how the teams are stacking, what to look forward to in terms of strength of each team and more. Then Bundesliga starts on August 26.”

I think your personal word :huh

Et Link already Star India to move international sports to premium HD channels - The Economic Times

So Star will Telecast BPL n Bundesliga on only 2 channels?? Hope we TataSky users can get StarSports AddOnHD for BPL n Bundesliga for not missing out on Matches.

There won't be any add on channels now. Mostly they will be using the red button technology which is used by Sky Sports Xtra which enables you to watch multiple matches at the same time.

Or else it is impossible to show 300 EPL games live as the article suggests.

Now it's clear that SD feed is available only till October as per the exchange4media link.
