JioStar might leave all Paramount brands (Viacom, Nick, MTV, VH1, Comedy Central) in near future

Expected Reasons:
1. Paramount is no more stakeholder in Viacom18
2. Now JioStar has more powerful brand than them in form of "Disney"
3. Paramount and Disney channels are overlapping each other
4. JioStar has to Pay licencing fees to them.

not at least till 2029 . As in 2019 ViacomCBS and viacom18 signed a carriage deal for 10 years.
Also nick , MTV being popular brand neither of the parties will risk to end it.
while it will all depend on leadership team of the new skydance paramount merger.

Paramount will still have to depend on jiostar for distribution of their films, so some kind of concession deal will be done.

Yes. But Paramount needs a licensing partner to sell their products in India. Now its JioStar through former Viacom18 partnership. May that deal get renewed. Also it can be bought by other players like Sony, Times etc in future.

I don’t think it’s so easy to let go of niche brands like Comedy Central and Nick, which are highly popular among their target audiences. I hope these channels are able to get a local partner if JioStar sells them, the way KC Global Media became the owner of the AXN and Animax channels in APAC after they were sold by Sony.

Neither Sony nor Times has shown any interest so far in launching new English channels. I’m not counting on them to acquire ex-Viacom18 channels. But Gaurav Banerjee’s interview yesterday shows that Sony is willing to consider partnerships with other broadcasters.

Comedy Central started the same from today.
