The problem is, Channel V is shutting down anyway though not tomorrow. So those who want Star Sports 1 Kannada are angry because they have to wait more, while Hindi music lovers are angry because Channel V will eventually shut down.

This situation is helping no one.

Having the biggest media network is not sufficient for launching a SPORTS CHANNEL in that language. As I explained in post #90, content is the actual focus for the local channels. If what I explained in the post was difficult to understand, look at the table I made below for easy understanding of this.

This table speaks about South Indian Languages only.
(TYPO ERROR: RCB AND CSK SHOULD BE INTERCHANGED IN THE BELOW TABLE)

* SRH Content might not be possible because it is owned by another media company (SUN Networks).

Notice the languages that Star decided to start a Sports Channel in, have all the rows 'green'. The 'red' rows indicate the content that is missing from that particular language which in turn are the reasons why Star is not planning an immediate launch for sports channels in those languages. Instead of expressing displeasure on Star for not launching sports channel in these languages, have patience and wait for these 'red' cells to become 'green'. Star will definitely launch Telugu and Malayalam versions of Star Sports 1 in the recent future.

May be after inaugural edition of Andhra Premier League (APL) in December 2017 & With Similar T20 league from Telangana, Telangana Premier League (TPL) which already began since 2015, Star might start a new channel for Telugu Audience. Hopefully, they may revamp Star Maa Gold to Star Sports Telugu!

Star India’s music channel, Channel V, is downing shutters this week and it will be replaced by a sports channel. Star India has declined to comment on this change.

Why Star may be launching a Kannada sports channel (Star Sports 1 Kannada) in lieu of its music channel is easy to understand from the strategy which Star India’s chairman and chief executive Uday Shankar has been following—that of a sharp focus on sports. With the launch of a Tamil sports channel in May, the network boasts of a cluster of 10 sports channels. That’s not all. In September, Star India Pvt. Ltd bid for and won the broadcast and digital streaming rights (Indian and global) to the Indian Premier League Twenty20 cricket tournament for the next five seasons for Rs16,347.50 crore.

Star Sports Kannada’s launch this week will coincide with the start of the fourth edition of the Indian Super League football tournament, reflecting Star Network’s interest in boosting its sports portfolio.

Star India tuning out of Channel V
