Prematch, post match shows and analysis can be beamed on the corresponding regional entertainment channels or OTT. There are hardly any takers for that. Moreover they only have lanaguage feeds mainly for Cricket & ISL.
Majority of the population is only interested in the live broadcast which can easily be catered through Audio feeds. This can limit the channel count and save the bandwidth as well. Because they have so many channels to maintain, they keep on re-runnning the highlights in the absense of any live content.
 
Because they already got multiple useless Sports channel which airs repeats throughout the day. They can easily add Tamil audio in SS1 HD itself. That's how channels in America works too. They have closed captions and Spanish audio for Latino users. They don't launch 20 channels for 20 states.
everyday I am seeing, SS1 tamil, SS First, SS2, SS3 are playing same content at the same time.
 
That's why they need more channels. Airing Thala's birthday special on 14 channels aren't enough.

Star India should scrap all their regional sports channel and keep only Star Sports 1,2,3. Why do we need so many regional sports channels when multiple language audio feed can work with more ease. Take an example of ETV Bal Bharat, the single channel is available in 10+ regional languages via audio feed. Brilliant strategy by ETV network.

Since Disney's entry Star India's every move seems useless to me. In movie category also they launched a useless channel like Star Utsav Movies which was totally unnecessary, now when it didnt got viewership they are rebranding it again to Star Gold Family.

Regional sports channels in key markets r much needed.... Audio feeds cannot b sufficient to meet the requirements. Local ads, shows, graphics all r incorporated in these chs. Tamil, Kannada, Malyalam, Hindi and to some extent even Telugu, Marathi r part of key markets with sizeable viewership.... These focus areas have varying scope in diff genres be it sports, infotainment or kids.
Also just to let u know Star Utsav Movies was launched when star india was run by Fox and it is currently no. 1 FTA hindi movie ch and even in pay markets it is doing quite good hence enters top 5 overall list almost every week
 
It will be very funny if Star Broadcast The Same advertisement in every languages one after one😂

For example: go to the vivel soap youtube channel and watch advertisements one by one in every languages 😁

Kids Channels do this on regular basis and can afford to do so bcoz needs r diff from a sports channel. Some prominent kids chs do run regional local ads too
 
#EurosInHindi and #EurosInBengali are also trending on top every night during Euro 2021. Social engagement means nothing. In that logic Premiere League should be Star's top priority. How many matches do they air every week? Do you really think high social media engagement translate to subscription revenue? In that logic Logan Paul should be making crores from Indian market in pay per view money.

At first Sony doesn't offer regional for their regular channels. They have two dubbed channels like Sony Ten 3 and 4. Only live content has audio feeds. This seems pretty successful to me.

What's the point of Hotstar and social media if not have something different like interviews? Do these interviews cover local league and sports? Nope. It's just players speaking in their mother tongue. Apart from TNPL which is for Tamil Nadu. What local sporting event did these regional channel cover of their respective regions?

Yes all these trends do not reflect ratings and these just help broadcasters to popularize events

Sony in a sense has also launched regional chs in form of TEN 3, TEN 4. Sony cannot b compared with star/disney as former mostly has niche properties which it can air on same channel with dual feeds while ad volumes for India Cricket, ICC , IPL needs separate chs to have proper telecast strategy... Let alone local graphics or shows even ads from all regions cannot fit in few chs. Also separate ad rates r rolled out for diff regional chs, clubbing into one will create a mess and why will a big brand pay more while smaller pay less on same channel.

Overall these r well thought decision. Star/disney should focus on variety of sports which is a valid concern and I m hopeful next yr this will get sorted
