To be honest, Star Sports were never serious to upgrade customer experience. JIO saw th gap here and is cashing from it. And, I am glad that happened. Hotstar PQ was so bad, so much pixelation in day night matches.
On the other hand JIO is killing it with PQ, they are fast at adopting new tech and also stole commentators from Star Sports, due to which Star Sports are using Yusuf Pathan and Balaji as Hindi Commentators . I am so much enjoying their 4K telecast, so no more interested Star Sports degraded picture quality.

STAR is always very lazy, still they have production rights, but they have no interest to satisfy their viewing fans at all.

I m viewing jio cinema in jio stb, and quality has been top notch. It hasn't crashed on stb atleast. No pixelations even, which was happening in WPL. So, quality has certainly improved.
Mobile app will improve with time. For hotstar, traffic increased with reach of internet and they improved over time (though still bad). For jio Cinema mobile app, traffic is high from day 1 because internet reach is high already ( thanks to Jio for even that), so they will improve for sure.
