Wireline Broadband connected homes are
3.235 crores as per TRAI as on 31-12-2022, Cable/DTH connected homes are around 10 crores. so, it is not a small portion.

These r total broadband subscribers, in many houses there r multiple broadband connections ....also compare this to total number of TV households which is around 225 million. Also within these households older population mostly prefer regular traditional mediums to consume content so will see either there being SD / HD boxes to be seen alongwith Hybrid Boxes / Fire Sticks / Smart TV which r used by younger people or all boxes may be hybrid ones.

Now here is an article u all should read to understand that TV (DTH /Cable ) maintains very huge lead over OTT for people watch content and same will continue in next 10 or 15 years

Multiple broadband connections are never in homes or very small portion@1%, this article shows only cord cutters, but every broadband home is streaming youtube and free apps regularly.

Actual data from government is not true data. Only opinionated articles with incorrect analysis of mobile data being ₹20 per GB is true data. 😏

Buddy We r not talking about content sampling on mobile or Smart TV / Smart Box or watching videos on YouTube or other OTT platforms thru any mode.

When it comes to properly watching channels or content at length then Cable / DTH is the mode which is at the front by a very long lead. Watching content on YouTube does not mean that people have ditched TV and going digital.... These r just add on for people whjch do not constitute in any major way as far as their regular content viewing is concerned and it does not replace traditional TV viewing.

As i have said Cable/DTH still holda massive lead, hybrid/smart boxes r gaining momentum but still total subscriber base remains small bcoz of pricing/penetration of broadband and even costly OTT app subscription

Those having broadband connection and completely ditching traditional TV and opting to go OTT route are very very minute in numbers, within this category ones having 4K TV + willing to opt for premium OTT plans to stream available 4K content r even fewer.

One can watch free app content or even paid app content on mobile internet or even stream 4K content for few minutes if available for free (as it consumes more data) ....same goes for those streaming paid/free OTT content on Smart TV / Boxes via broadband but TV Channels still are and will remain the leader as far as consumption of regular/ long form content is concerned .

Even within TV universe people still largely opt for SD channels and these include those having smart tv or boxes bcoz people r very price concious. TV remains the most affordable way to watch all types of content and still offers lot better viewing experience specially if streamed on big screen

Exactly, even if we have Cable/DTH or Broadband connection in home doesn't mean everyone in home viewing same content, someone like News/Serials not interested on sports. we have different mindsets, not everyone is the same.

Same thing apply for most of people have Smartphone with active Data plan doesn't mean everyone download premium OTTs or Watching free contents always.

@Vadirocks bro. Does star has chance to provide active services through Dth’s for IPL like sports active with multiple camera angles to compete with Jiocinema
