Yes, Sun Direct way ahead in terms of having popular channels in base packs compared to other dths. I shall explain.
SD ROI BASE PACKS: (WITH RECORDING)
A. Value Plus Pack: RS 210 p.m. only (More savings on Long Term Recharge)
Popular Channels which no other dth can provide in this amount:
Star World / Comedy Central / History TV18 / VH One English / MTV India / Zoom TV / MH One Music / Star Sports 1 / Star Sports 2 / Star Sports 3 / Star Sports 4 / Angel TV / Atheemeya Yathra / Movies Now / Romedy Now /
Times Now / ET Now / NDTV 24X7 / CNN IBN / CNBC TV18 / Russia Today / UTV Movies / UTV Action / Sonic / Nick / Hungama TV / Disney / Disney XD / DD - India / DD - Gyandarshan 1 / OTV / Focus NE / News Live etc.
Now my understanding:
1. Star Sports 1 to Star Sports 4 not available on any dth in this monthly price range.
2. Star Sports 2 still not added on Dish TV. :angry
3. Popular Channels like Focus NE, ETV News Kannada still not a part of Dish TV. :wall
4. OTV No.1 Odia News channel available only with Odia top up in case of Tata Sky, Airtel & Reliance. But in Sun its Free in all packs.
5. All Doordarshan channels available on sun, where as maximum Doordarshan channels still not present on Tata Sky. Dish TV does not provide EPG of any Doordarshan channel. :wall
6. No English News channels available on minimum base pack of any dth except for Russia Today in some cases. But in Sun 6 English News Channels present in lower base pack.
7. 2 Premier English Movie Channel available on Sun's lowest ROI base pack. For others its a big ZERO.
8. 3 English Entertainment Channels, 1 English Music Channels available on Sun's lowest ROI base pack. But for others it is nil.hya hya
9. Set Max available on all base packs of sun direct. So IPL virtually free in Sun Direct, every year.hya hya
10. Finally, lowest base pack is also having regional channels to cover all genres and every one's tastes unlike Tata Sky.
B. Indi Pack: RS 215 p.m. - Channels almost same as value plus pack only the following channels missing : Movies Now / Zoom TV / Times Now / ET Now. But WB Channel a part of this pack.hya
C. Mega Pack: RS 300 p.m. - Almost all the channels except Star Jalsha, :wall Zee Talkies, Ten Action & Sony Six.
Neo Prime & Neo Sports available on sun direct's mega pack where as Tata Sky has removed both of the channels. :angry
Remember New Zealand & Kenya Cricketing rights are not yet sold. To some extent Pakistan cricketing rights also not sold due to PCB's id*otic act of selling rights series by series. :wall
If Neo grabs all these then Tata will be the biggest looser. :angry
In HD Sun Direct providing 11 HD Channels with Recording facility. (Two Packs for ROI Value Plus HD Pack @ RS 360 p.m. & Mega HD Pack @ RS 450 p.m.) Popular Sun HD Channels not available on Dish TV. :angry
The following HD Channels not available on RDTV: Sun TV HD / Sun Music HD / KTV HD / Gemini TV HD / Discovery HD World / Zee Studio HD / Sony Six HD. (All these channels available on Sun Direct HD with Recording)
RDTV yet to launch Recording HD Set Top Boxes.

So what do say guys ? Please comment. Remember Airtel costly, D2H gradually removing channels from base packs, so is Dish TV, RDTV poor CC. Free Dish less good FTA Channels. So conclusion for Middle Class families Sun Direct & for rich people Tata Sky.
