Switzerland has set up a Consulate General in Bangalore which will cater to the states Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, according to a report in The Times of India. "The consulate will promote trade, investment and tourism," Philippe Welti, Switzerland's ambassador to India, said at a meeting organized by Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI) recently in Bangalore. Visas will be issued in the second half of next year when the consulate expects to move to a new building. Till then, services for the region will continue in Mumbai.
