What's the use of Ethernet port currently?

No use currently. It was used when Catch up TV functionality existed with which one could download serial episodes via internet. Once Tata Play Binge Plus was launched, this feature was removed using software update.

They even used to provide a USB wifi dongle free of cost since LAN connectivity is not feasible for everyone, but that is also redundant now.
